When you hear about the Chrysler 300C, the first two things that will come into your mind are, first, it is powered by a V8 HEMI, where the Chrysler is known for, and second thing is the Chrysler 300C is only made for congressmen, businessmen, our grandfather, and crime lords. But being in the Philippines, owning an 8 cylinder vehicle is like having a mistress that only comes after your money. And another fact is, congressmen, businessmen, and crime lords would go for a Land Cruiser or a Nissan Patrol, and grandfather would just enjoy his Ford Mustang or his Volkswagen Beetle he had acquired in his younger days.
The all new Chrysler 300C Pentastar V6 Luxury Edition is displacing 3.6 liters all through out its six cylinders, sports 290HP and 353NM of torque, and it’s mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission. Quite powerful for a naturally aspirated V6 engine. Fuel misers won’t even have to worry about its fuel consumption as it only consumes 7.7 liters of gasoline per 100 kilometers, and yes, it’s a 3.6liter V6. It’s amazing how Chrysler had managed to make the Pentastar engine very economical.
Getting inside the 300c at the first time will greet you with a very luxurious touch of leather seats, and the dashboard material is definitely high grade, it’s far more sophisticated than the ones they use in Japanese executive sedans. You will love the center piece analog clock, which makes the 300c’s interior more classy. The Chrysler 300C also has heated seats, which will keep your body warm on long trips, even if the air-con is getting colder than usual. You will also love the gauges on the dashboard which reminds me of Breitling watches. The leather seats feel Lay-Z Boy like. The Chrysler 300C also has GPS Navigation with DVD as a standard feature.
As I begin to take the driver’s seat of the Chrysler 300c, I first noticed how lovely it is to feel the genuine leather on its steering wheel, the transmission lever also looks different compared to other cars. It seems like it came from an airplane.
I had a chance to drive this Chrysler all-out, my acceleration from 0 – 100KPH only took 7 seconds despite the car’s heavy weight. The 8-speed automatic transmission accelerates like a manual. Even though it’s an E-segment sedan, and could pass for a limousine, it still feels like a compact vehicle because of its smooth but strong power delivery. Attacking the corners with the 300c is also easy even at speeds above 100KPH because of its ESP. I hit 140KPH in the Chrysler 300C at a long stretch in Pasay city. The Pentastar engine actually feels like a HEMI. This bad boy has a chance to win drag races.
The Chrysler 300C is not made as a driver’s car, most will buy it to be chauffeured–Imelda Marcos goes to parties and other social activities in a previous generation Chrysler 300C. But this bad boy, here? Once you buy one, you will surely spoil your chauffeur. So, if I were you, buy it and drive it! Even grandpa might forget his Ford Mustang or Volkswagen Beetle if he gets one for 2.9million Pesos! You gotta love this bad boy from Chrysler!
